Back in the summer of 2007, Myndology put out a line of recycle products call the Bare. I mention that this product should have won some prizes. Yesterday, Treehugger took notice of the recycle notebooks! Treehugger is a clean website which gathers information about design, architecture, and every day products which promotes recycling. There is a certain modernist aesthetics to the featured posts and the look of the site. Part of me want to compare it to Uncrate with an environmental conscious bent. Curiously, there’s an icon of a dialog box that one sees in comic book panels with an equal sign. This icon represents Treehugger’s forum. Myndology has use this motif in their products before in the older notebooks. It seems to represent dialogues, discussions, and communications tool. Even the Treehugger’s logo has a simplicity and elegance. It is an * with an extended branch to embrace the whole tree.

This year, I started off reading “The Now Habit” by Neil Fiores. It had been on my Amazon wish-list for sometime and during Christmas, I emailed it to my siblings. So I got it as a Christmas present. This book
kicked my butt motivated me into taking up the study of architecture again. I have challenged myself to re-take some of my exams again. Some of the tools I use for study is the myndology grid notebook for sketches like this accessibility clearances for exits. The grid is dotted and small enough to carry around with me for quick references. They are in the junior size.

My first prize in tisimi.
Corel Painter X; iWorks 08 trial; Bento trial.
I like the iWorks for magazine like lush layouts. The templates are beautiful. I also like Bento. I made a diary like application in Bento. It’s very easy to use. I can add pictures to the contacts in my address book.
I didn’t realize how powerful Painter X is until I looked at some of the artists using this too in the instructional manual.
Some of the notable artists using Painter X:

Super Bowl is here!!
I’ll have to admit, when it comes to talking about football, I have very little knowledge about the subject. So around this time of year, I like to re-acquaint myself with our National obession. There’s a clear and well designed web-site for people like me and hardcore football fans to keep track of NFL Football. The site has a forum, polls, and many other cool features. I can track my team by email, look up NFL encyclopedia, and buy jerseys. What I think they should add is a trivia game. For example, I wonder how many quarter backs have been on the cover of GQ. I think the answer is Dan Marion, and Tom Brady. (You see, even my knowledge of football is directed from other sources such as fashion magazines.) The site allows readers to bookmark to digg, delicious, and many others. The NFL schedule of games is very useful. Fans and readers can become involved by submitting their writings to the site! There are sites within the site dedicated to NFL and AFC teams.

In my email exchange with the CEO of tisimi, Robin Daniels, I expressed my excitement about getting into the Mac OS, especially the Leopard. To my surprised, he gave me a choice of having a more powerful MacBook without the Windows Vista. But I was not going to give up the super fine Corel softwares that’s included. To my surprised, Robin sent me a package today with CorelDRAW X3 and Corel painter X.
A couple of things:
CorelDRAW X3 can read Raw files!
Corel painter X can work in the Mac!
I’ve been wanting to work with Raw files for a while now. I did the trial down load of RawShooter which was good for the price of around $30 -$50, very easy to use for a dumie like me, I fell in love with Raw. I’m excited that Corel Draw can read the Raw files. I’ll test out this program more and report to you later how it is. I down loaded the trail version of Aperature for Mac $299. The trail is free for 30 days. I wasn’t going to invest that much into a software just to work with Raw files. CorelDraw X3 will come in very handy indeed. My first exposure to Corel Photo was on my brother in law’s machine. He has done some incredible stuff with that software. I continue to use it everyday, more so then Adobe Photoshop. These additional softwares will only enhance my enjoyment of photo and designs. I can’t wait to try them all out. Corel also offers free trails of their softwares.

Congratulations to all the tisimi winners!!! What a way to start out the new year! My dream of owning a Mac has come true. I won the first prize from tisimi.com. It’s true that I’ve been a supporter of tisimi since it’s first day when I found out about it. I uploaded my design projects and migrated some works from flickr to tisimi because it was about design and concepts.
